Heartbreak as New England Patriots fan dies of most cancers two weeks earlier than the Super Bowl… after being shocked with tickets by proprietor Robert Kraft
A mother of six and superfan of the New England Patriots has passed away from cancer, days after team owner Robert Kraft gifted her Super Bowl tickets.
Shelly Sepulveda passed away on Monday after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer, according to an update on her GoFundMe page which was started to help with the cost of her treatment.
She died hours after her beloved Patriots team had sealed a return to the Super Bowl by beating Denver Broncos 10-7 on Sunday afternoon.
‘We are heartbroken to share that Shelly has passed away last night at 1:51 am. She was a devoted wife to her wife, Tami, and an incredible mom to six wonderful kids who were the center of her world,’ a statement on her GoFundMe said.
‘Shelly was deeply loved, and her loss has left an unimaginable hole in her family and in everyone who knew her.
‘We are asking for help during this incredibly difficult time to cover the costs of Shelly’s funeral and memorial services. Her passing was unexpected, and the financial burden has added so much stress to an already devastating loss.

‘Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward funeral expenses and helping support Tami and the kids as they navigate this heartbreaking time.’
On January 14, the Patriots shared an emotional video of owner Robert Kraft gifting Sepulveda a ticket to next month’s Super Bowl in Santa Clara on the field at Gillette Stadium – before they knew the Patriots would make it there too.
‘When I’m here I don’t think about cancer, I watch the Patriots,’ she told Kraft. ‘Are you serious? Thank you so much, that means so much to me.
‘I’ve been trying to fight it for two years. It (going to the Super Bowl) has been on my bucket list.’
The moment was during the Patriots’ January 11 playoff win against Los Angeles Chargers.
Sepulveda was a neonatal intensive care nurse who, according to Boston 25 News had fostered over 20 children who had been born addicted to drugs.
The publication adds that Shelly’s family lost their life insurance when she was unable to work due to fighting cancer.
Alongside her wife, Temi, they adopted five children and had one biological child together.

‘It is survivorship and fighting for my life,’ Sepulveda told Boston 25 last year. ‘There’s a lot of people going through cancer that don’t have the support. And I do, and I’m lucky. I’m lucky I have the friends and family I have.
‘I’m not a quitter, and I don’t want my kids to think I’m a quitter.’
As of Wednesday morning, the GoFundMe had raised over $35,000 and was hoping to reach $40k.
