UK’s greatest ‘swinging hotspots’ unveiled as Brits are swapping companions extra
Swinging has long been a secretive activity for many couples, but new figures have suggested that swapping partners in bed is becoming more common across the UK

Swinging is becoming a more common practice for Brits as the UK’s “hotspots” for swinging have been unveiled. It comes as experts have said that swapping partners is actually becoming more and more accepted.
Many people across the country are opting to share their partners in bed as a way to spice up their relationships and keep their spark alive. Now, it seems that people living in cities and towns right across the UK are heading online to find prospective partners.
Figures found a close correlation with big cities and those who were open to swapping partners to get hot and steamy with. However, some experts have warned that it is not a practice that is for everybody, and can pose great risks if not looked into well enough.
The research was carried out by adult website SoloFun, who looked at the location of where their members had signed up. The study focused on a total of 150 different towns and cities across the UK to find out just where swinging was more or less popular.
Coming in at #1 was West Bromwich in the West Midlands, now being dubbed the “Swinging Capital of the UK”. According to their analysis, some 444 members joined the website each week, beating out the rest of the competition.
Several areas in Greater Manchester followed close behind, with Salford, Stockport and Oldham all following close behind. Salford fell just shy of the number one spot, with just 414 new weekly sign-ups per 100,000 residents, way ahead of other major cities.
Rounding out the top five was Dudley, also in the Birmingham area, which brought in 305 new weekly accounts joining the site. The analysis puts it as being one of the most active areas in the UK for swingers to start looking for partners.
On the flip side, London actually proved to be the worst location for swinging based on their data, with only 3.6 profiles being made per 100,000 people. Other, smaller towns and cities were also not won over by swinging, with Craigavon in Northern Ireland and Northampton rounding out the bottom three.
Speaking on the results of the findings, a spokesperson for SoloFun said: “There’s less secrecy and shame around sex than there used to be. People are willing to try new things and be open with their desires and fantasies, especially when online platforms make it easy for them to do so.
“However, swinging relies heavily on communication and mutual boundaries,” they added. “Without that, it can expose insecurities rather than strengthen a relationship.”
Whilst for many, swinging is a great way to maintain the spark in a relationship, it is not for everyone. In fact, it can even expose the holes in a relationship and eventually cause them to crumble.
One Reddit user bravely revealed just how much his experience in swinging affected him, admitting that he felt sidelined by his partner while they went off with another man. He went on explain that he was left with anxiety, depression and ongoing relationship issues that need therapy to work out together.
