Raging man stabs door of girl’s home 12 instances in horror doorbell footage

Daniel Lytollis was seen taking out his aggression on the door of his then-partner, stabbing it repeatedly in a late night attack as his coercive behaviour was exposed

This is the terrifying moment a man was seen repeatedly stabbing the door of his partner in a vicious attack. It was revealed the man had been subjecting the woman to a torrent of abuse and coercive behaviour.

Daniel Lytollis, 35, was seen stabbing the door of the woman he had been dating a total of 12 times in one horrific incident, yelling at swearing at a camera installed in the door. However, a court heard that this was not the first time that he had been to the address, as he was coercively controlling the woman living there.

He was eventually arrested by police on suspicion of causing criminal damage, but the full scale of his wicked ways has now been unveiled. Now, Daniel has been sentenced to over two years in prison, handed a restraining order and barred from driving for two years.

Carlisle Crown Court heard how Lytollis had been subjecting the woman to a huge wave of coercive and controlling behaviour, which only first came to light last March. During the incidents, Lytollis was seen going to the woman’s house in Carlisle, Cumbria on two separate occasions, each time becoming more agitated.

During his second visit to the house, he was unable to get in, sending him into a fit of rage and, armed with a knife, he repeatedly stabbed the doorbell, damaging the door in the process. It was also revealed a car on the home’s driveway was also scratched with a knife.

Officers were called and tracked Lytollis down at his house, arresting him on suspicion of causing the damage to the house. They also suspected he may have been drink driving, after a slew of empty bottles were found in his car.

He was taken into custody, but refused to give officers a breathalyser test. During their investigations, however, it was revealed the man had been controlling the woman living at the house for years, sending her brutal messages, voicenotes and videos belittling and threatening her.

A search was carried out of Lytollis’ home, where knives and even a machete were discovered. He was then charged for a slew of different offences and brought before a judge to face justice.

After being convicted of crimes including engaging in coercive and controlling behaviour, two counts of criminal damage, possession of a bladed article in a public place, possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, the judge sentenced Lytollis to two years and ten months in prison. He was also handed a five-year restraining order and was disqualified from driving for two years.

Speaking on the case, Detective Constable Karen Minnion from Cumrbia Police said that Lytollis’ behaviour should never be considered acceptable. She added that the victim never felt safe; not at work, nor at home.

“This case highlights how behaviours can escalate and we would encourage anyone who has been victim to a domestic offence to contact police so that our officers can investigate,” she explained. “You will be supported throughout our investigation.”

“These offences will not be tolerated by Cumbria Constabulary, and we will do everything within our power to hold them accountable for their actions and bring them to justice.”
