One of Ireland’s biggest national hunt fixtures – Dublin Racing Festival – has been cancelled on day one due to unprecedented rainfall
After several through ground inspections, it has been announced that Saturday’s axed card – including the Irish Gold Cup where Galopin Des Champs was gunning for a fourth win – will be moved to Monday. Leopardstown has been left partially waterlogged after being battered by 60mm of rainfall just days ahead of the meet.
The venue is due to stage two of the most significant fixtures in the National Hunt calendar on Saturday and Sunday, events that typically attract crowds of 35,000 and serve as crucial preparation for the Cheltenham Festival.
