Mardi Gras parade horror as six individuals shot together with a baby in Louisiana

Six people have been shot, including a six-year-old child, when gunfire rang out at a Louisiana Mardi Gras parade.

The child is in a critical condition following the shooting outside of East Feliciana Parish Courthouse in Clinton on Saturday around 12.20pm, WBRZ reported.

Clinton had reportedly just started its 21st annual Country Parade. 

The sheriff’s office told WAFB that the fanfare was immediately shut down. 

Four suspects are in custody, reported The Advocate. 

Police are searching for a vehicle involved in the shooting.

Lively music played before several rounds of gunshots rang out. 

‘Oh my god,’ she yelled. ‘Who just did that?’ 

Wells ran for cover and appeared to scream for a friend nearby. A child screamed and cried in the background. 

Another witness spoke to  WBRZ about the shooting. 

‘Everybody started running,’ he said. ‘This does not happen often in this particular area.’

Clinton is located more than 100 miles north of New Orleans. 

The town has a population of just 1,300 people.
