Major clue on the place Prince William and Kate’s youngsters will go to highschool uncovered

Prince George is set to leave Lambrook School in Berkshire in September when he turns 13 and moves to secondary school, with sources claiming Marlborough College is now the ‘front-runner’ over Eton

A huge clue to as to where the Prince and Princess of Wales’ kids could go to school has been dropped. It appears Prince William and Kate might ditch tradition and “lean” into a more co-education school in a major shake-up to the royal establishment.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are all currently pupils at Lambrook School in Berkshire, but this won’t last much longer, according to sources. Whilst Charlotte, 10, and Louis, seven, have are set to be at the institution for several years, George is in his final year at Lambrook.

As the young prince is approaching his 13th birthday, he is coming to the end of his time at the private preparatory school, as the school only takes children up to his age.

As a result, when pupils go back to school in September for the new academic year, George will have to move into secondary school, meaning there are a lot of options for the Prince and Princess to choose from. Traditionally, royals have been sent to Eton College, one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the country, with even Prince William being sent there himself as a child.

Nevertheless, as speculation has centred around Eton College as the most likely choice for George, it seems this might no longer be on the cards. Reports suggest that William and Kate are looking at the possibility of sending George to Marlborough College.

The boarding school does have a royal connection as this is where Kate was sent to, and it could be the preferred option, given it’s a co-educational institution. This would mean that when Charlotte and Louis turn 13 and move into secondary school, they could reunite with their older sibling, according to the Express.

Insiders have said that the parents are trying to find new options for their children instead of relying on tradition. An insider revealed to Vanity Fair: “While Eton would be the obvious choice because it is on their doorstep and where William went, they are leaning towards other schools.

“I’m hearing Marlborough is the front-runner. I think if they can, they would love for all three children to be at school together, which puts Marlborough as the top choice.”

However, despite the claims made by the palace source, this has not been verified by Prince William and Kate, who are reportedly yet to decide on where George will go to school next year. This is in spite of rumours last year that the couple had already secured a place for the second-in-line at Eton, including a boarding house spot.

It’s expected that Kensington Palace will announce George’s secondary school this year before he transitions. Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will continue at Lambrook together until they also reach secondary school age.

The decision on where the younger kids will attend secondary school will be made once they reach 13 in a few year’s time.

Nevertheless, if the royals did decide to separate their kids in school, this would in fact be a tradition, as expert Duncan Larcombe said: “William and Harry broke the mould by going to the same school, but if you look at The Queen’s children, they were all schooled separately. […]

“Kate had a traditional co-ed education but it seems to be almost par for the course with the royals that they don’t pile all of their children into the same school.”
