Eight people have lost their lives in a horrific crash after a bus careered off the road in a tourist hotspot in southern Turkey. Pictures broadcast by state television TRT revealed the vehicle on its side along an embankment beside a slip road in Dosemealti, situated north-west of Antalya city centre.
Provincial governor Hulusi Sahin confirmed that 26 individuals sustained injuries during Sunday’s incident, with several in a critical condition.
The DHA news agency stated that certain passengers were ejected from the coach, which had been travelling through the night from Tekirdag in Turkey’s north-western region.
Antalya, a beloved Mediterranean holiday destination, has experienced torrential downpours over recent days.
Mr Sahin explained: “The ground was wet and there was also fog in the area,” adding: “It’s not a place to speed, but it seems the bus was speeding.”
