Aldi has given its iconic Cuthbert cake an Olympic-themed makeover – transforming it into a life-sized BOBSLEIGH.
The caterpillar cake bobsled hit the slopes at Team GB’s official training ground in Bath, as a survey by the retailer revealed 55% would like to see more fun designs on bobsleighs.
The sporty sled features Cuthbert’s signature smile, dickie bow and colourful buttons topped with a new safety-conscious addition – a blue helmet.
The research, commissioned to celebrate this year’s Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, also revealed that film and TV have inspired the nation’s sporting ambitions.
An energised 37% of Brits have been encouraged to pick up a racket, don boxing gloves or hop into a bobsleigh after watching a sporty movie or show.
The same number (37%) said that seeing a particular sport depicted in a film or televised games generated a new-found interest in the discipline, according to the study.
A tickled 36% of those quizzed admit they find it amusing when their friends suddenly become ‘armchair experts’ on a sport, having only watched it during the games or in a film.
The retail giant’s survey also revealed that films such as Cool Runnings (1993) and Eddie the Eagle (2016) may help inspire the next generation of Olympians.
