Andy Carroll is accused of breaching a non-molestation order against ex-wife Billi Mucklow after he bombarded her with calls, a court heard.
Carroll, 37, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (February 4) following his arrest at Stansted Airport in front of holidaymakers last April over the alleged breach. Carroll, who arrived on crutches, was accused of “repeatedly” making phone calls to Billi in March last year.
The couple had married in 2022 and share three kids, but divorced two years later. Carroll, who spoke to confirm his name, address and date of birth, elected for a crown court case.

District Judge Roy Brown told him: “Your next appearance at court will be at Chelmsford Crown Court on March 4 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
“On that occasion you will be asked to enter a plea, if it remains a not guilty plea then arrangements will be made for a trial.”
Carroll had been arrested at an airport, where he was held shortly after getting off a flight at Stansted, following a journey from France.
Essex Police said at the time: “A man has been charged with breaching a non-molestation order.
“Andrew Carroll was arrested on April 27 and the alleged offences relate to an incident in March.”
Carroll is currently playing for National League South club Dagenham & Redbridge. However, he recently went under the knife to repair a fracture and ligament damage. He had spent time with Amiens and Bordeaux in France before the move.
However, he is best remembered for his time on these shores with Liverpool, where he secured a mega-money move after impressing with Newcastle as a youngster.
Carroll started his career with Newcastle where he scored 31 goals in 80 appearances between 2006 to 2011.
And his £35million move to Anfield in the 2011 January transfer window made his Britain’s most expensive footballer at the time.
