King Charles’ previous Audi heading for public sale – and it may very well be yours for a really affordable value
A rare piece of royal motoring history is up for grabs as an Audi estate car formerly owned by King Charles is heading to auction.
His Majesty’s 2015 Audi A6 Allroad 3.0TDI – used by HRH between January 2015 and October 2016 when he was then Prince of Wales – will be offered for sale by Iconic Auctioneers on 21 February.
This A6 Allroad has long been a favourite car of His Majesty King Charles III, valued for its four-wheel drive capability, comfort, style and everyday usability.
Charles has been photographed driving this very model on several occasions, including chauffeuring himself and the then-Duchess of Cornwall to Kensington Palace on 3 May 2015.
This particular A6 Allroad, like other motors supplied to the Royal Estate, was specified with features not found on standard production cars.
It’s expected to fetch between £20,000 and £30,000 later this month.

The late Queen loved her Range Rovers, but The King adores Audis – and this A6 is a classic example of his passion for the German marque.
In fact, Charles is known to have a great affection for cars, famously running a classic Aston Martin that runs on a biofuel consisting of a mix of petrol and surplus wine and cheese.
He was also spotted last month using his latest automotive acquisition – a £140,000 electric Lotus Eletre hyper-SUV, which he described as ‘silent but deadly’.
The A6 is finished in a special-order Audi exclusive colour commissioned solely for Charles, which looks understated at a first glance but the finish is instantly recognisable to those familiar with vehicles used by the Royal Family.
During its time in the service, discreet lights were fitted within the grille and later removed when the A6 was formally decommissioned in October 2016.
Subtle signs of this remain today, so you get an interesting and quiet reminder of its former role that doesn’t alter the car’s original appearance.

The cabin is fit for an understated king, with a walnut wood trim on the steering wheel and gear selector, soft close doors and a four-zone climate system.
Plush extras include heated front and rear seats, rear window blinds, double glazing and a Bose surround sound system – all indicative of comfort and restraint.
The A6 has only had one long-term custodian since leaving royal service before passing to its current vendor, and there are just two previous keepers on the V5 logbook.
It has covered approximately 115,000 miles from new as a reliable workhorse.
The service record from its Royal Household period is not available – as is customary with motors released from the estate – but the car benefits from complete paper service history from late 2016 onwards, supported by its original Audi book pack and detailed invoices.
Recent expenditure includes a major service and transmission work at Audi Edinburgh in April 2025 at a cost of £2,720, bodywork and paint correction in January 2026 costing £1,800, and a full health check by Audi specialist VAS Works at £1,600.

Refurbished wheels and a comprehensive detail leave the car in strong mechanical and visual condition.
But you’re not just paying for its excellent working order, you’re paying for a car that’s been pictured carrying the Prince of Wales to a charity polo match at Beaufort Polo Club, Tetbury, Gloucestershire on 14 June 2015.
Even the then-Duchess of Cambridge has been pictured with the car, looking after Prince George while the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry took part in the match.
Speaking about the availability of the car, Rob Hubbard, managing director and principal auctioneer at Iconic Auctioneers, said: ‘Opportunities to acquire a car used personally by His Majesty King Charles III are rare, particularly one offered with this level of documentation, care and discretion.
‘This Audi A6 Allroad reflects how Iconic Auctioneers handles significant cars at every level of the market, from globally important classics to modern vehicles with remarkable stories.
‘It is a fascinating and usable piece of royal history.’
