Schoolboy, 5, is left with life-changing accidents after ‘hit-and-run’: Man, 57, is arrested
A five-year-old boy has suffered life-changing injuries after an alleged hit-and-run, police have confirmed.
The young child was rushed to hospital from Kilburn High Road, North-West London, at around 5pm on Tuesday.
An Air Ambulance was sent to the scene along with police, but the driver of the vehicle had seemingly fled.
A 57-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of the collision.
He remains in custody as the Metropolitan Police continue their investigation.
The boy suffered life-changing injuries, police have heartbreakingly confirmed.
Detective Inspector Mark Braithwaite of the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: ‘Our thoughts are with the young child and his family at this difficult time and we continue to do everything we can to piece together exactly what took place.
‘As part of our enquiries we are appealing for the public’s help. We ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage, to come forward and contact officers. Any information, no matter how small, could be extremely helpful to the investigation.’

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: ‘We were called at 5.04pm on Tuesday 3 February to reports of a road traffic collision in Kilburn High Road.
‘We sent resources including an ambulance crew, a clinical team manager, an advanced paramedic practitioner, and London’s air ambulance. We treated a child at the scene before taking him to a London major trauma centre.’
