Inside the world’s ‘prostitution capital’ the place ‘rentable’ girlfriends promote intercourse for £12
The kingdom of Thailand is home to the world’s number one sex tourist destination. Pattaya – known as ‘Sin City’ – has been dubbed the ‘biggest brothel on the planet’ with 27,000 prostitutes working its streets, bars and sex clubs
Inside a tropical south east Asian kingdom lies the beating heart of the prostitution capital of the world.
Thailand’s Pattaya, dubbed “Sin City”, is the globe’s number one sex tourism destination. The red light district has been called “the biggest brothel in the world“. Surprisingly prostitution is illegal in Thailand under the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act of 1996.
However the law is inconsistently enforced leading to the massive sex industry seen in the city. Police and politicians have tried to clean up the streets of the Thai city however the hundreds of gogo bars, massage parlours, brothels, Lady boy bars and sex clubs make it obvious their efforts have utterly failed.
So called “b***job bars” erected on the streets of Pattaya offer sex for as little as £12. Sex workers are available to hire for a “short time” – a couple of hours – for around a tenner.
Women of the night are also available for a “long time” in the hedonist haven which means they spend the entire nights with a client or even never leave their client’s side becoming his “girlfriend” during their trip.
It is estimated more than 27,000 women of the night take to the streets of the Thai city advertising their services making it the prostitution capital of the world – ahead of locations such as Barcelona and the Dominican Republic.
Malee – not her real name – is a lady of the night who has spoken of a paid relationship she had with a British truck driver who sent her £100 a month for her to be his girlfriend.
The mum of one, 33, is one of the thousands of bar girls who work in Pattaya. Malee spoke to The Sun during one of her shifts to explain what life is like as a bar worker as she charges clients up to £70 for a “date” with her.
On her romance with the British truck driver Malee said: “We talked every day. He liked me and wanted to have a serious relationship with me and if it all worked out he planned to move to Thailand.
“He sent me THB 5,000 (£114) every month. In April I told him I want to have a motorbike so he sent me THB 40,000 (£915) for one. When he visited here, during my work hours, he came and sat at the bar to be close with me.”
“After work hours, I took him out for a date. I told him that if he wanted to be serious, he should come back again in June because it was low season and I would stop working at the bar and go back to my family home. He did come back in June so I took him home with me to meet my family.”
The sex worker explained the couple had planned and engagement however they encountered issues. Malee said: “He proposed to me after a few days. I said yes and we set January 17 next year as our wedding date because it’s my birthday. We planned to hold the wedding in my home town.
“He said he would move to Thailand because the cost of living here is much lower than in UK. Thai people are friendly and we live in big families. He loves Thai food because it’s tasteful and has lots of variety and it is very cheap.”
Malee said her boyfriend was planning on moving to Thailand due to the cost of living being lower. She said: “In England the cost of living is high and there are not many options of food and the taste is not very good. He lives alone in England and has to cook for himself. When he comes here he visits my family and does not have to cook for himself.”
Sadly the romance ended in heartbreak as the woman claimed cultural barriers led to the marriage being called off.
Despite the failed engagement Malee is never short on suitors and previously had an American boyfriend sending her $150 per month.
