Killer sobs ‘I’m going to overlook GTA’ after confessing to killing his ex-girlfriend

The moment a killer sobs because he won’t be able to play the new Grand Theft Auto has been released by police after he confessed to killing his ex-girlfriend.

Robert Richens, 35, made a 999 call declaring he had “accidentally killed someone” from his home after leaving 40-year-old victim Rachael Vaughan dead inside her property.

Officers attended the scene and commenced lifesaving attempts with South Central Ambulance Service but sadly, Rachael was declared deceased at the scene.

Richens was arrested outside an address in Oxford on May 30 last year, which is before the “ashamed” killer told cops almost in tears that he will miss getting the chance to play GTA 6. He told cops he was aware he would get life for the murder.

An officer from Thames Valley Police can then be heard asking version of Grand Theft Auto he was talking as Richens says GTA 6.

The officer then tells him in reply that it will be “ages” before the game comes out, which is currently down for November this year.

Richens sobbing more then says “I am going to get life.”

Richens was sentenced to minimum term of 16 years and one month for the murder of Rachael.

Thames Valley Police since released the arrest footage showing his sobbing over GTA 6 as well as his chilling 999 call.

In the call, he tells operator: “You’re not going to believe this. I think I accidentally killed someone.”

He later tells them in tears: “I am being honest because I am ashamed of what I have done.”

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Stuart May, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “My thoughts remain with Rachael Vaughan’s family and with everyone who loved her as they continue to face what is an unimaginable loss.

“Rachael was taken from them in the very place she should have felt safest — her own home. Robert Richens’ actions were heartless. He left Rachael alone in her house, made no attempt to help her or seek medical attention and he only contacted police when he had nowhere else to turn.

“Today’s sentence means that Richens will now face the consequences of his merciless actions.”
