Terrifying second carnival trip detaches and crashes to the bottom at Indian truthful, injuring 13

This is the horrifying moment a carnival ride detaches and crashes to the ground, injuring 13 people.

The ‘Tsunami’ swing ride broke while carrying 19 people at around 6.15pm on Saturday at the Surajkund Fair in Faridabad, in India‘s Haryana state.

Terrifying footage shows the carriage detaching from one of the arms of the ride as it rotated.

The fairgoers excitable screams turn to shouts of horror as the carriage crashed to the ground with an enormous thud.

Police inspector Jagdish Prasad died after rushing to help the injured after the swing collapsed.

He was struck in the head and face when it suddenly broke from the other end as well, trapping other riders.

The father of three, who was supposed to retire in March after 36 years of service, was critically hurt and later died while receiving treatment.

The region’s Deputy police Commissioner Ayush Sinha told local media: ‘The inspector died while rescuing people.’

Those injured were rushed to two different hospitals and the fair was evacuated following the incident.

Earlier in the day, strong winds caused a gate at the fair to collapse, injuring an adult and a child, who were also taken to hospital.

‘The incidents are being investigated and strict action will be taken against those responsible,’ said Sinha.

It is believed the ride malfunction was due to a mechanical fault rather than the weather.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini said: ‘I am deeply saddened by the accident that occurred during the Surajkund Mela held in Faridabad.

‘I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the person who lost their life in this tragedy.

‘Necessary instructions have also been issued to the relevant authorities to ensure proper and immediate treatment for those who were injured.

‘The Haryana government is working with full commitment and sensitivity to provide every possible form of assistance to the injured and their families.’

The Surajkund fair, now in its 39th year, began on 31 January and is scheduled to continue until Sunday.

The fair’s carnival ride area was temporarily closed for the investigation and safety checks.

It is not the first dangerous collision to take place at an Indian fairground.

In 2022, a ride crashed after falling nearly 50 feet at a fair in northern India’s Punjab region.

The spinning drop tower lost speed before plummeting down instead of slowing.

The impact threw fairground goers from their seats as it collided with the platform below.

Onlookers were heard screaming next to the ride, watching as their loved ones dropped straight down without stopping.

At least 15 people were injured in the accident, including children, with five admitted to a nearby hospital.
