Women beneath stress to make use of weight reduction jabs says Kate Ferdinand

Former Only Way Is Essex star Kate Ferdinand has moved to Dubai with her family and spills the beans on what makes for a ‘happy house’ with husband Rio, the competition between them while training and the holistic approach she takes to wellness

Kate Ferdinand is not interested in using weight loss injections but fears women are feeling pressured into using them.

The former Only Way Is Essex star spills the beans on what makes for a ‘happy house’ with husband Rio, the competition between them while training and the holistic approach she takes to wellness.

She told Women’s Health UK : “I know a lot of people who do them, and if it makes them happier, then great. But I think it’s become this thing where the woman who doesn’t want to jab feels pressure to do so because everyone else is. And it can feel harder [for them] to do things in the natural way – to exercise and eat well – as it takes so much longer, and the results aren’t as immediate.”

Balance is key to Kate Ferdinand’s well being and she admitted: “I don’t want to live forever – I want to enjoy my life. I want to eat chocolate and have a cocktail. And I refuse to put too many boundaries in place to stop that. I do small biohacks. I read that you should do five things in the morning to help you have a better day.

“So, one might be grounding, one might be getting fresh air or sunlight, breathwork, having a cold shower, hydrating yourself. But I also have young children, so I do what I can – and I try not to put too much pressure on myself.”

The Ferdinand family moved to Dubai in 2025 and Kate has adopted a new health regime since being out there.

“I want to look good and I’m happier when I look good, I have to be honest,” she said. “But I would always choose to exercise because I work out for my mental health, too. I also want to be a healthy role model for my children: they see me working hard in the gym and that makes a difference.

“I’m quite aware of how I feel and what I need to do in order to make myself feel better. If I need help, I’ll have therapy. If I’m struggling, I’ll go outside and go for a walk, I’ll talk to people.”

Husband Rio has also enjoyed a new lease of life out in Dubai and a brand new training schedule. They’ve both shot cover shoots with Men’s and Women’s Health UK titles.

She revealed: “It was nice to have a shared goal like the cover shoot to train for together, but we were very competitive. It can get quite…intense!

““It’s so important. We wind each other up constantly. But you’ve got to have a laugh, haven’t you? In our home, everyone gets in on it. I feel like it makes for a happy house.”

The kids are also getting involved, although the Ferdinands never crack the whip when it comes to health.

“Speaking and communication is a big [health value] for me,” said Kate. “Exercise. Drink lots of water. Have your device outside your bedroom at night. But most of all: communicate. Speaking about how you feel and getting it out, without any fear of judgment.”

Being in the public means the family has to deal with trolls and criticism, but they have a healthy attitude to celebrity.

“Honestly, we laugh about it with the kids,” said Kate. “But I do think it’s important to show, especially the girls, that you can go out and work, create new things and be entrepreneurial. My parents broke up when I was three and my mum worked full-time and raised me herself.

“My grandma also worked hard all her life, so I’ve always had really strong female role models… It’s not just about the girls, though. Of course I want Tia and Shae to think that anything is possible. But I say the same to my boys.”
