Kingsbury High School stabbing terror as youngsters banged on home windows screaming ‘mummy’

Two pupils aged 12 and 13 remain in serious condition after being stabbed at Kingsbury High School in Brent, north west London – a 13-year-old was later arrested after fleeing the scene

Terrified youngsters were heard screaming “mummy” and hammering on windows after two pupils were knifed, witnesses have revealed. Police rushed to Kingsbury High School in Brent, north west London, following reports that a 13-year-old student had allegedly attacked his fellow pupils with a blade.

The teenage suspect was apprehended by officers after he escaped the premises on Tuesday, February 10. Anti-terror police have since assumed control of the investigation, with the two casualties, aged 12 and 13, continuing to fight for their lives in hospital.

It is believed one victim suffered wounds to the neck whilst the other was injured in the torso at approximately 12.40pm yesterday. Disturbing testimonies have surfaced in the wake of the knife attack, including accounts of students frantically pounding on classroom windows seeking rescue.

The pupils began desperately striking the glass after the alleged assailant entered their classroom wielding a blade. Resident Maeve O’Callaghan-Harrington reported hearing distressed children weeping as they departed the school grounds

“I walked outside and heard one boy saying, ‘Mummy, Mummy’,” she revealed to MailOnline. Authorities subsequently tracked down the suspect and recovered a weapon believed to have been used in the stabbing incident.

Police have emphasised they are currently examining all possible motives behind the assault. Metropolitan Police Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams stated yesterday: “At this very early stage, we are keeping an open mind as to any motivation behind this attack.

“However, due to the surrounding circumstances, the investigation is now being led by officers from Counter Terrorism Policing London, who are working closely with our local officers in response to this incident.

“This has not currently been declared a terrorist incident and the investigation team will now be working at pace to gather any evidence and to establish the full circumstances of what has happened as quickly as possible.

“I absolutely recognise that this incident will cause considerable concern – especially among our local community, students and parents of the school. I hope the news that we’ve arrested and detained the suspect will provide some reassurance, but our officers will remain in the area to offer support and answer any questions.”

The suspect is still in custody and is being interrogated by officers. The Met Police have described it as a “fast-moving” investigation and confirmed that they are not seeking anyone else in relation to the stabbing.
