Thomas Tuchel set to STAY as England supervisor – and will signal contract TODAY till 2028 – in main blow to Man United’s hunt for a brand new boss

The FA are this morning expected to announce that Thomas Tuchel has agreed a deal to continue as England head coach until 2028.

The German’s existing contract was due to expire at the end of the forthcoming World Cup.

However, FA officials have acted following an impressive qualifying campaign and amid concerns that Tuchel may be in the frame for the Manchester United job at the end of the season.

Tuchel is said to be excited over the prospect of leading England not only in the US, Mexico and Canada but also at a ‘home’ European Championship finals in 2028.

The deal, first reported by The Times, would mean he remains in charge of the Three Lions until the end of the tournament, which will be hosted by England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Wembley will host the semis and the final.

United have previously spoken to Tuchel, 52, about taking over at Old Trafford.

In the summer of 2024 he was approached with a view to replacing Erik ten Hag, with one meeting taking place with Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

He subsequently ruled himself out of contention but has retained admirers at the club. Michael Carrick is currently in interim charge for the rest of the campaign following the sacking of Ruben Amorim.

Spurs are also looking for a new boss, while Real Madrid are another currently in the market.
