Fashion chain Quiz slashes costs additional after administration collapse – all 40 shops

Quiz slashes prices further with clearance discounts after entering administration for third time in six years, with 109 redundancies but all 40 stores remaining open

Quiz will cut its prices even further after plunging into administration on February 5, resulting in 109 staff redundancies.

Alistair McAlinden, head of Interpath administrators, confirmed that all 40 shops remain trading and that additional clearance reductions will begin to shift any leftover stock.

Geoff Jacobs, Interpath’s managing director, also appealed to “any remaining parties with an interest in acquiring the stock, store operations and infrastructure of Quiz” to get in touch with the firm immediately.

The retailer, which launched in 1993, entered administration last week for the third time in six years, sparking 109 job losses across Quiz’s headquarters in Glasgow and warehouse in Bellshill, Lanarkshire.

Administrators revealed the company had been battling difficulties over the past year and encountered “strong economic headwinds”, with a disappointing Christmas trading period proving the final blow, reports the Express.

They pointed to “changing consumer habits, cost pressures from business rates and the recent increases to employment costs” as factors behind its administration.

The chain, which has around 565 employees and operates 40 outlets nationwide, immediately shut down its website on February 5 and ceased taking online orders.

It will also no longer process refunds unless the product is defective.

Interpath confirmed that Quiz concession stands in New Look and Matalan stores would not be included in the administration proceedings. Mr McAlinden stated at the time: “With Quiz, the latest retailer to fall into administration, there’s no doubt it’s been a tough start to 2026 for the UK High Street.

“It’s our intention to continue to trade all stores and the concessions in Ireland as a going concern for as long as we can while we assess options for the business.”

Several other high street closures have been blamed on cost pressures that were exacerbated by Labour’s decision to hike National Insurance contributions for employers and the minimum wage.

Banks have also vacated the high street in droves, citing a shift in consumer habits with most customers now favouring online banking.
