Leeds Bradford Airport chaos with planes delayed and ‘passengers caught on runway’
Passengers at Leeds Bradford Airport are facing travel chaos as parts of the UK have been hit by an Arctic blast today (February 13).
Some passengers claim to have been left waiting for six hours after their flight was due to leave. Snow and ice are reportedly the source of the runway chaos.
Delays are building up at Leeds Bradford Airport as snow and ice builds.
According to LBA, the 7.40am flight to Barcelona is now scheduled to leave at 3.45pm this afternoon. The 8.15am to Palma was in the gate closing stage at around 2:55pm.
Meanwhile, the 8.55am flight to Geneva was currently boarding at 3pm, and there are delays to the 12.45am flight to Tenerife, and the 1.05pm flight to Krakow.

One passenger told Yorkshire Live this afternoon: “Chaos at Leeds Bradford Airport, sat on Jet2 flight to Paris for 6hrs now and plenty more delayed due to ice and LBA only having one working de-icer truck and Jet2 no longer having their own in house de-icer, according to pilot. Planes next to us have disembarked and passengers on the Paris flight have also left.
A spokesperson for Leeds Bradford Airport said: “LBA has remained open and fully operational throughout the day.
While some airlines have experienced delays to departing flights due to the adverse weather conditions, airport operations continue as normal and passengers are advised to check directly with their airline for the latest flight information.”
