Val d’Isere avalanche sees two British skiers and one different killed after being swept away
Two Brits and another skier have reportedly been killed while skiing in France after an avalanche swept them away.
The horror incident occurred near a luxury French Alpine resort of Val d’Isere on Friday (February 13). The Brits were part of a group of five skiers who were skiing off-piste at the time.
Another skier, who is also reportedly British, was injured during the avalanche. His condition or how seriously he has been injured is currently unknown.
In a press release, Benoît Bachelet, public prosecutor of Albertville, said: “One of the deceased victims, a French national, was skiing alone in that area. The two other deceased and the injured person are British nationals. They belonged to a group of five skiers accompanied by an instructor. The instructor is unharmed.”

The resort also confirmed the deaths in a statement. It read: “Despite the rapid intervention of the rescue services, three victims died. They were all equipped with avalanche transceivers.
An investigation has now been opened by the Albertville public prosecutor’s office to determine how the incident occured.
