‘He has one dream – to play for Real Madrid’: Liverpool star’s nationwide crew coach drops main bombshell about key participant at Anfield’s ambitions

Dominik Szoboszlai’s ‘one dream is to play for Real Madrid‘, according to his Hungarian national team coach.

Liverpool fans will no doubt be deeply unhappy to hear the words from Marco Rossi, particularly given the fact that he has been one of the few shining lights for Arne Slot this season.

Rossi’s bold statement about the midfielder, who is under contract at Anfield until 2028, will set alarm bells ringing on Merseyside.

Marca report him saying: ‘Szoboszlai always had one dream: to play for Real Madrid.

‘I don’t know if he’ll be able to take that step, because the decision depends on him and also on his club.’

The Spanish publication go on to say ‘it is a confession born of closeness’ and that Szoboszlai and Rossi’s tight bond means the information is likely to be accurate.

Liverpool signed Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig for £60million two years ago and he played an integral role in their Premier League triumph.

Having already lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real after winding his contract down and facing the prospect of a repeat with Ibrahima Konate, the Reds will be wary of Szoboszlai following a similar path.

He is yet to sign a new deal with the club and his value would diminish the further towards the end of his contract he reaches.

Marca report that Rossi did not rule out the possibility of Szoboszlai putting pen to paper on fresh terms at Anfield.

‘I absolutely don’t rule out the possibility of him staying at Liverpool and renewing his contract there, especially because he’s highly valued within the club,’ he stated.

‘He’s a very important player for Liverpool, and Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world.’

Szoboszlai has been a key man for Slot in a variety of positions and even filled in exceptionally at right-back for the Reds this season.

His brilliant free-kicks against Arsenal, Man City and Marseille have been highlights of an otherwise disappointing campaign and no doubt Liverpool will be desperate for him to agree fresh terms.
