John Fetterman ridicules his OWN occasion members who assault Trump simply to make a fast buck: ‘It pays the payments’
Senator John Fetterman ripped into his own party for attacking Trump publicly just to ‘pay the bills.’
The Pennsylvania Democrat made the scathing assessment on Friday to Politico’s White House Bureau Chief Dasha Burns, when asked about his relationship with Trump.
Fetterman, casually propped in his sweatshirt and shorts, said despite disagreeing with the president, he will always ‘talk and speak’ with respect – unlike other members of his party.
‘If I have something to say, it’s not going to be, you know, in an insult. It’s not going to be extreme things,’ he said in an interview on The Conversation podcast.
‘When you have members of Congress calling him a piece of sh*t, [it’s] crazy.’
He seemingly referred to Jasmine Crockett, who in August 2025 called Donald Trump ‘a piece of sh*t’ over Republican redistricting plans.
Crockett also labeled Trump as ‘Temu Hitler’ due to his involvement in the redistricting process.
Fetterman also took a swipe at other Democrats for spewing vile insults at the president in an effort to stage ‘professional wrestling.’
‘I know some people just want the professional wrestling kind of thing. I know what pays the bills.
‘Can you call someone a piece of s***? Can you now put that in an email? Can you chip in $10 to help me smash the oligarchy or whatever?’ Fetterman mocked.

Other Democrats have used similar rabble-rousing tactics. Gavin Newsom has repeatedly taken digs at Trump, calling him a ‘son of a b****.’
In January, Newsom tore apart European leaders for ‘rolling over’ to Trump in his pursuit of Greenland, likening the president to a ‘T-Rex’ you either ‘mate with or he devours you.’
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also called Trump a ‘rapist’ amid renewed calls to fully release the Epstein files, sparking significant backlash.
And Tim Walz labeled Donald Trump and JD Vance ‘creepy and weird’ during the 2024 presidential campaign.
Fetterman added that he would rather ‘play it straight and treat people on both sides with respect.’
‘We’re going to disagree on things that we disagree,’ he concluded.
Fetterman also responded to Trump calling him ‘the most sensible Democrat,’ joking that his parents would appreciate the president’s words.
‘I know and I love a lot of people that voted for Trump, and that’s part of I refuse to call these people Nazis… or [that] they’re trying to destroy our Democracy,’ he told Burns.
‘Now I’m not defending the president, but I will say he hasn’t defied a single court order yet. He hasn’t.’
Fetterman has received a mix of hesitant praise because of his comments.

‘I never thought Fetterman would end up being the voice of reason in the democrat party. He’s definitely growing on me,’ one user wrote on social media.
‘I don’t always agree with you, but you legitimately want to serve the people of Pennsylvania – and I will support that,’ another said.
The Pennsylvania Senator also ridiculed for their patronizing remarks towards constituents, saying that will be the party’s biggest midterm liability.
‘I don’t treat voters like children,’ Fetterman told Burns when asked about the upcoming election.
He said that Democrats tend to talk down to voters when ‘trying to explain why it’s wrong to shut our government down.’
