BREAKING: FA Cup fifth spherical attract full as Arsenal and Liverpool study ties

Newcastle United will take on Manchester City in the biggest tie of the FA Cup fifth round, while Arsenal travel to Mansfield Town.

All eight fixtures have been confirmed, following the draw conducted at Macclesfield’s Moss Rose on Monday evening. Liverpool will travel to Wolves.

This came after a weekend packed with drama across the nation, with League One outfit Mansfield Town delivering the most stunning upset. Despite going behind away to struggling Premier League side Burnley, Mansfield staged a remarkable fightback after Louis Reeds’ spectacular free-kick sealed a 2-1 victory.

However, sixth-tier Macclesfield will be hoping to eclipse the Stags’ achievement, as they welcome top-flight opposition in Brentford. The fixture is scheduled after the draw, with the Silkmen aiming to replicate their third-round heroics when they eliminated holders Crystal Palace.

Whilst the Monday night encounter is typically the concluding tie of each round, one match remains outstanding. Port Vale were set to host Bristol City before the game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

The fixture has been rearranged for both sides’ next available slot, Tuesday, March 3.

Meanwhile, there were no further surprises for the remaining Premier League clubs. Chelsea opened proceedings on Friday with a comprehensive 4-0 triumph away to Hull City.

Saturday witnessed West Ham edge past Burton Albion in extra-time, Manchester City defeat Salford City, and Newcastle United recover from behind to triumph at Aston Villa. Liverpool completed the day’s action with a commanding 3-0 success over Brighton.
