Brit vacationer in horror Tenerife stabbing fights for all times after chasing telephone thief
An 18-year-old British tourist was seriously injured in the early hours of this morning (February 16) as he chased after a suspected phone thief in a Tenerife holiday resort
A British holidaymaker is fighting for his life after being knifed while chasing a mugger. The thief snatched his friend’s phone in a Tenerife tourist hotspot.
The 18-year-old was set upon as he cornered the mobile thief behind a bar in the notorious Las Veronicas strip of Playa de las Americas resort.
The attack occurred during the early hours of this morning. Emergency medics confirmed today the tourist was in a “serious” condition, though one local report branded his state as “critical” and he’s believed to have been rushed to intensive care following hospital admission.
No arrests have yet been made, though officers have deployed a specialist unit to track down and apprehend the blade-wielding attacker.
A spokesperson for the regional government’s emergency response coordination centre stated: “An 18-year-old man has been seriously injured after being stabbed in Rafael Puig Lluvina Avenue in Playa de las Americas.”
The first emergency calls were received around 2.15am this morning.
“The vicim was transferred to the Universitario Hospiten Sur Hospital after being stabilised at the scene.”
Island publication El Dia reported the unnamed tourist had been chasing a man who “violently robbed” a British female friend’s phone when he was set upon.
He’s understood to have been attacked close to a venue called Oasis.
The location where the knifing took place is hugely popular with British tourists.
