Liz Truss achieves the ‘inconceivable’ and ‘humiliates herself additional’ with Trump selfie

The unlikely meeting between the deluded ex-PM – known for her brief and destructive spell in Number 10 – and US President Donald Trump was dubbed a “Red Lettuce Day”

Lettuce Liz Truss has been accused of “doing the unthinkable” and “humiliating herself even further” by posing with US President Donald Trump.

The shortest-serving PM – famously outlasted by the Daily Star lettuce – visited the Orange Manbaby at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, over the weekend and later said he “was right about everything” in a social media post.

It’s not clear how long the meeting between lasted, how it was initiated or what the duo discussed. But they appeared to be colour co-ordinated as Trump wore a red shirt and white golf shoes, while Truss wore a red dress and white shoes.

And Truss, who has often spoke of shadowy cabals such as the “deep state” and appeared increasingly extreme since leaving office, was mocked by social media users including one wag who quipped: “Lettuce has met orange.”

Brendan Cox, widow of murdered MP Jo Cox, said on X: “Hard though it is to admit it- we should accept that Liz Truss has proved us wrong.

“After being the most unsuccessful Prime Minister in the history of our country many of us thought it was impossible she could humiliate herself any further. We were wrong.”

Another joked the pair made a “Jaffa lettuce”, while someone else said: “A bona fide lunatic. And Donald Trump.” Someone else mocked how bad the photo was, adding: “Looking way off camera, badly framed. It’s the sort of photo your Mum puts on Facebook.”

The Trades Union Congress said: “Donald Trump has imposed tariffs that risk thousands of UK workers’ jobs, threatened to invade Greenland, posted a video portraying the Obamas as apes. Liz Truss says he is ‘right about everything’.”

Truss, who spent just 49 days in office, was appointed prime minister by Queen Elizabeth II on September 6, 2022. The UK’s longest-serving monarch died just days later, aged 96.

One social media shared a photo of Truss meeting Her Late Majesty, with the caption: “Remember what happened last time Liz Truss met a head of state?” Another asked: “I wonder is the Dim Reaper branching out from only killing Monarchs?”

It comes after Truss ranted that the UK will still be run by the “deep state” and the “Labour illuminati” whether or not under-fire Sir Keir Starmer quits as PM.

She reckons he will be replaced by Angela Rayner – who she likened to Boris Johnson – and claimed she will “fail to achieve anything” due to the imaginary group “pulling the strings”.
