Major UK banking group to close 22 branches subsequent month – see full checklist
Lloyds Banking Group is closing 22 branches across Halifax, Lloyds and Bank of Scotland in March 2026 as part of 95 closures, with the full list of affected locations confirmed

Throughout 2025, hundreds of bank branches disappeared from UK high streets, and the trend is set to continue into 2026 as banks plan further cuts across their networks. This industry-wide shift comes as customers increasingly turn to digital services, including online banking, instead of visiting physical branches.
Major high-street banks such as Halifax, Lloyds, and Bank of Scotland, all part of the Lloyds Banking Group, have evaluated their branch networks and decided to shut down certain locations. Brits have already witnessed numerous local branches closing, with a significant number slated for closure in March.
Despite announcing 95 new closures, the banking group has reassured customers who prefer in-branch banking that alternatives are available. For instance, customers can use services at any Halifax, Lloyds or Bank of Scotland branch, regardless of their primary bank.

Community Bankers also provide support, visiting local hubs and assisting with account enquiries. Customers can check if a Community Banker is visiting their area on the Halifax, Lloyds and Bank of Scotland websites.
A spokesperson for Lloyds commented: “Customers want the freedom to bank in the way that works for them and we offer more choice and ways to manage money than ever before.”, reports the Express.
“From our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service to local banking options like our community bankers, PayPoint and access to all of our Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland branches, we’re giving our customers the flexibility to bank wherever and whenever they need us.”
