Dozens of people have been hurt after an avalanche derailed a train carrying 80 passengers. The incident happened inValais near Goppenstein., Switzerland at around 7am local time this morning (February 16).
A rescue operation is currently underway. In a statment the police have confirmed the train derailment with “injuries likely”.
The full statement read: “February 16, 2026 – 07:00, Goppenstein, train derailment, likely with injuries, response underway, more information to follow.”
