Hillary Clinton says she and Bill ‘haven’t any hyperlinks to Epstein’ whereas admitting he ‘took some rides on his airplane’ – as she requires former prince Andrew to testify

Hillary Clinton has insisted that she and Bill have ‘no links’ to Jeffrey Epstein – while also admitting that her husband ‘took some rides’ on the disgraced paedophile financier’s airplane.

The former US secretary of state also called for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to testify to the US Congress over his links to Epstein.

In an interview with the BBC, the 78-year-old claimed that she and husband Bill were not associated with the billionaire in any way.

But seconds later, she said: ‘We have a very clear record we’re willing to talk about. My husband has said he took some rides on [Epstein’s ] airplane for his charitable work.’

Clinton’s claim was directly contradicted by the release of a tranche of Epstein files in December, in which Bill was seen frolicking in a swimming pool with Ghislaine Maxwell and being friendly with Epstein.

The former president appeared numerous times in the documents, being seen taking a dip with convicted sex trafficker Maxwell and a woman whose face was redacted.

In another image, Bill was seen standing and smiling side-by-side with Epstein.

The former president denied having any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes shortly after the shocking images were released, and accused the Trump administration of attempting to ‘shield themselves from what comes next, or from what they’ll try and hide forever.’

Hillary said in her interview with the BBC that she doesn’t ‘ever recall ever meeting him’, she said, adding that she had met Ghislaine Maxwell ‘on a few occasions.’

But, Clinton claimed, ‘thousands of people go to the Clinton Global Initiatives, so to me it’s not something that is really at the heart of what this matter is about.

‘They… were both convicted of horrific crimes against girls and women. That should be the focus. We are more than happy to say what we know, which is very limited and totally unrelated to their… crimes.’

Clinton also said that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor should testify over his links to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein

Asked whether the disgraced brother of the King, who stripped him of his titles last year, should go before the US Congress to shed light on his relationship with Epstein, she told the BBC: ‘I think everybody should testify who was asked to testify. I just want it to be fair.

‘I want everybody treated the same way.’

The former US secretary of state also accused the Trump administration of orchestrating a ‘cover-up’, adding: ‘Get the files out. They are slow-walking it.’

The Justice Department last month released the latest cache of so-called Epstein files.

These files are made up of over three million documents, photos and videos related to its investigation into sex criminal Epstein, who died from what was determined to be suicide while in custody in 2019.

Clinton’s husband, former president Bill Clinton, features regularly in the files, but no evidence has come to light implicating either Clinton in criminal activity.

The couple has been ordered to give closed-door depositions before the House Oversight Committee, which is probing the deceased financier’s connections to powerful figures and how information about his crimes was handled.

‘We will show up but we think it would be better to have it in public,’ Clinton told the BBC.

The former secretary of state said she and her husband ‘have nothing to hide. We have called for the full release of these files repeatedly.’

The Department of Justice has said it has no more files to release, though lawmakers have criticised it for not publishing internal government memos, notes and emails on Epstein.

Clinton said the Republicans probing her are trying to deflect attention away from Trump, whose name is also mentioned in the files many times.

‘Look at this shiny object. We’re going to have the Clintons, even Hillary Clinton, who never met the guy,’ she said.

Trump denies any wrongdoing. Mere mention in the files is not proof of having committed a crime.

Former president Clinton has acknowledged flying on Epstein’s plane in the early 2000s for Clinton Foundation-related humanitarian work, but said he never visited Epstein’s private island.

Hillary Clinton, who ran against Trump for president in 2016, has said she had no meaningful interactions with Epstein, never flew on his plane and never visited his island.

Responding to Clinton’s comment that the congressional testimony was a bid to create a distraction, Trump denied it, telling reporters Monday evening he had been ‘totally exonerated.’

Hillary Clinton will appear for her deposition on February 26, while Bill Clinton will appear on February 27.
