Rumer Willis lashes out at nepo child claims as she says she will get ‘no cash’ from mother and father Bruce or Demi

Rumer Willis fired back at nepo baby claims as she opened up about life as a single mom raising her 2-year-old daughter Louetta.

The 37-year-old actress, daughter of Hollywood legends Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, welcomed her little girl with ex-boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas in 2023 before their split in August 2024.

On Monday, Willis shared an Instagram Reel titled Single Moms Be Like, showing herself juggling daily tasks while text floated around her listing ‘lunch,’ ‘play dates,’ ‘meal prepping’ and ‘working out.’

She later reshared the clip with a direct message to fans. ‘Just had to clarify since it seems there are quite a few uninformed and rude people in my comments on this post,’ she wrote.

‘I work 4 different jobs to provide for my daughter. I am the sole provider for her. I don’t live off a trust fund or get money from my parents. Most of the time I don’t have help with her,’ Willis added. ‘So how about y’all pause before you judge and assume.’

After a follower suggested she has a ‘backup’ plan with her famous family, Willis posted an even longer statement on her Stories to set the record straight.

‘I want to respond to this with care, because I think there’s a misunderstanding about what I was actually saying,’ she wrote.

‘I am very aware that I have privileges in my life that many people don’t, and I don’t take that for granted,’ she continued.

‘I know there are realities I will never fully experience, and I respect that. But this particular post wasn’t about privilege or comparing circumstances, and it feels like people are assuming I was ignoring that when that wasn’t the conversation I was trying to have.’

Willis went on to stress that she doesn’t see her family as a ‘backup plan’ and takes pride in supporting herself and her daughter.

She recalled years of being the sole provider and pushed back against assumptions that she doesn’t understand financial pressure or work hard.

‘At the same time, I think we can hold two truths at once,’ she said. ‘People’s lives look different, and none of our experiences exist in a vacuum.

‘Just like someone with a stable job and housing might still struggle in ways that are real to them, even if their situation is different from someone facing much more severe hardship elsewhere in the world, we all move through different layers of reality.

‘Acknowledging that difference doesn’t mean we can’t also talk about what we share.’

Back in November 2025, she told fans she ‘had a good cry in the woods’ over the challenges of being a single mother.

‘Some days being a single mom is hard. She is not hard (ever) but some days doing everything alone can be,’ she added.

When she confirmed her split from Thomas – who quickly moved on with his Alchemy Pot co-founder Lizzie Loch – Willis wrote on Instagram, ‘I am single momming it and co-parenting.’

Daily Mail has reached out to Derek Richard Thomas for comment.

Although Willis insists she’s supporting Louetta entirely on her own, her statement carries extra weight given the enormous fortunes of her famous parents.

Her father, action movie legend Willis, is estimated to be worth around $250 million, thanks to decades of blockbuster films, real estate, and royalties.

Meanwhile, her mother Moore has an estimated $200 million fortune, built from her long A-list career and roles in hits like Ghost and A Few Good Men.

Rumer isn’t the only one in her family navigating life in the spotlight.

She is the eldest of three daughters Bruce and Demi Moore share – including Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31 – and all three have publicly supported their father as he faces an ongoing health battle.

In 2023, Bruce was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a progressive brain condition that affects behaviour, communication and personality, forcing the beloved Die Hard star to step away from acting as the disease took hold.

Since then, the family has rallied around him.

Rumer has shared heartfelt updates on social media, admitting it’s ‘hard’ to describe how he’s doing but expressing gratitude that she can still hug him and watch his eyes light up when he sees his granddaughter Louetta.
