Gran’s High Heel Rampage at Steakhouse – here’s all you need to know about the shocking incident

  • A grandmother launched a violent attack on restaurant staff with her high heels after arriving late for a birthday dinner at Miller and Carter in Liverpool.
  • Mary McGinley, 42, from Skelmersdale, and her group were turned away from the Albert Dock steakhouse when they arrived 30 minutes late for their 9.45pm booking on December 7, 2022. The kitchen had already closed, sparking fury from the party.
  • The situation escalated when two male members of the group couldn’t provide ID for alcohol service and the entire party was asked to leave. McGinley removed her high-heeled shoe and struck waiter Maderson Roche-Jones over the head.
  • Chef Angelo Muto intervened by putting a male “ringleader in a bear hug” but was then repeatedly punched in the face by McGinley. He suffered cuts, bumps and swelling to his right eye.
  • “Nobody has the right to assault me at my place of work. I’m disgusted with their behaviour,” Muto said in a statement.
  • Liverpool Crown Court heard McGinley has three prior convictions covering 11 offences and had been battling mental health difficulties. She pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault by beating.
  • The grandmother-of-two received a six-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months, plus a three-month electronically monitored curfew from 9pm to 5am.
