Gordon Ramsay reveals he’s paying again daughter Holly’s £65k wedding ceremony flower invoice in instalments as his cash is wrapped up in 22 Bishopsgate

Gordon Ramsay may be the richest chef in the world – but a £65,000 wedding flower bill might be a step too far.

The celebrity chef, 59, has revealed he is paying back the mammoth flower bill for his daughter Holly and Adam Peaty‘s wedding in monthly instalments as all his money is wrapped up in his new restaurant venture at 22 Bishopsgate.

Gordon is currently promoting his new six-part Netflix documentary which follows his journey in opening five restaurants at London’s 22 Bishopsgate skyscraper.

But despite being worth £162m ($220m), Gordon admitted his daughter’s wedding – held at Bath Abbey on December 27 – left him in tears due to the expense of the flowers: ‘I’ll be honest, half the tears were the size of the flower bill.’

On Thursday when asked how he felt watching Holly get married, Gordon said: ‘Firstly I was crying my eyes out, because of the flower bill.’

Gordon went on to reveal during the appearance on Heart Breakfast with Jason King and Kelly Brook that he actually asked to pay off the flowers in monthly installments because of the cost of his project at 22 Bishopsgate.

‘Oh I know flowers are expensive,’ Kelly said, to which Gordon replied: ‘Only Holly would decorate the entire Bath cathedral with flowers. One of the most historic buildings. Anyone else on the planet, no.’

‘She took her moment, dad you’re paying for this,’ Jason said.

As the trio burst out laughing, Gordon said: ‘I swear to god, the aisle was 65 meters long.’

He added: ‘Every time I walked past a pew I was walking up and down going “7 grand”, “another 7 grand”, 65 grand of flowers!

‘I haven’t seen the bill yet because I’ve asked if I could do payments on a monthly basis, because I’m still paying for [22] Bishopsgate.’

‘So that’s 20 million and 65 thousand so far,’ Jason joked.

‘All jokes apart, it was an amazing day,’ Gordon added, before saying the speech was his favourite part of the event.

In another look at the day, Gordon noted they ate prawn cocktail for starter and beef wellington for main course.

Elsewhere Gordon said the past 12 months have been ‘the hardest of his family’s lives’ ahead of the release of his Netflix documentary.

The chef spoke to Fleur East, Will Best and James Barr on Hits Radio about how the new show has affected his family, his daughter Holly’s scandal-laden wedding and his eye-popping expediture on the big day.

Holly and her new husband Adam Peaty‘s nuptials were marred with scandal after he disinvited his family from the big day amid bitter rows with his mother Caroline over her outfit for the wedding and subsequent legal woes for his brother.

Alluding to the dramas, Gordon, whose six month documentary follows his journey in opening new restaurants at London’s Bishopsgate, said: ‘This has been the most challenging 12 months of our entire lives.’

Swimmer Adam, 31, tied the knot with Gorodn’s daughter Holly, 25, in the idyllic ceremony in December where his sister Bethany was the only relative attending the nuptials.

As the feud rumbles on, while the Ramsays have maintained silence, they appear to have alluded to the beef and even failed to remove a fleeting clip of Caroline from the doc – despite her demands she be taken out of the show.

The programme follows Gordon’s preparation to open five culinary experiences in London’s 22 Bishopsgate, the city’s second tallest building.

His family, comprising wife Tana, 51, and six children – Megan, 27, twins Holly and Jack, 26, Tilly, 24, Oscar, six, and Jesse, two – are heavily featured.

He admits that he has not watched the documentary: ‘I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen it because I never want to be that sort of little delicate, dainty soul that wants to obsess on how he looks, how he comes across…

‘And so this has been the most challenging 12 months of our entire lives. Huge commitments in terms of Bishopsgate and attempting a project of that magnitude. I trust, and sometimes that’s my problem. I trust too easy, I think.’

Moving on to discussing the wedding, Gordon went on: ‘Yeah, it’s just that amazing moment when you see your little girl just become an incredible woman…

‘But I’ll be honest, half the tears were the size of the flower bill. Sixty-five metre walk down the aisle. I was walking past £2000, £4000, £6000. We donated all the flowers to the local hospice and churches after that.’
