Man’s physique eaten by his three hungry pit bulls after he collapsed and died at residence

Salvatore Allegrucci, 52, was found dead in his apartment with his three pit bulls locked inside without food or water for at least four days

A man’s corpse was partially devoured by his three pit bulls after he collapsed and died inside his flat. The horror find came to light when Salvatore Allegrucci’s worried niece – known locally as Tore – sounded the alarm after he stopped picking up the phone and wouldn’t come to the door.

Police officers who forced their way into the property discovered the 52-year-old’s lifeless remains on the floor, partially consumed by his pets. Upon arrival emergency crews were hit by an overwhelming stench wafting from the apartment prompting them to break down the door.

Salvatore’s body was discovered in the main living area of his flat in Rigali village, part of Gualdo Tadino in Perugia province, central Italy. Carabinieri officers, firefighters and veterinary teams all attended the scene on February 15. Based on initial police investigations he is thought to have died from natural causes, potentially following a sudden medical episode.

Authorities reckon he had been lying there dead for at least four days before the grisly discovery, reports the Mirror. The three pit bulls were discovered trapped inside the apartment with no food or water available, having partially consumed their owner’s remains. Emergency responders noted the dogs seemed highly distressed when crews entered the property.

A duty doctor notified the on-call prosecutor at the Court of Perugia, who conducted a preliminary external examination. The magistrate has demanded a comprehensive post-mortem to determine the precise cause and time of death.

The three dogs were apprehended and taken to a kennel under the watchful eye of the local health authority’s veterinary service, where they will be subjected to health checks and legal evaluations. Police verified that Salvatore resided alone in the flat complex. The probe continues while awaiting the autopsy results.

Claire Bridger, 64, left Keith Bridger with life-threatening wounds after attacking him with a blade, striking his chest and stomach. The accused “became hysterical” after travelling to the property where her estranged husband was residing to request payment for their next mediation appointment – leading to her to discover both animals had been put down, the jury heard. Prosecutor Peter Gair stated: “She was screaming ‘You’ve killed my dogs’.”

Bridger exited the vehicle clutching a knife in her right hand and attacked her estranged husband twice, once to the chest and once to the stomach, Mr Gair added. Bridger is also accused of biting his arm whilst he lay on the ground bleeding and pleading for assistance.
