WAR BY THE WEEKEND? Trump mulls over Iran navy strikes as fleets of US fighter jets swoop on Middle East

US warbirds have swarmed the Middle East in recent days as the world holds its collective breath. So, is this a merely a flex of American muscle? Or an omen to warn the world that the dogs of war are about to be unleashed?

Donald Trump is reportedly close to making his final call o n military strikes on Iran – and a decision could come at any moment, with insiders revealing the US war machine ready to roll as soon as this weekend.

The 47th President has the world on a knife-edge, with tensions between Iran and the US now at boiling point, insiders within the White House have let slip to CNN that the US military is already “good to go” if the Commander-in-Chief gives the nod.

The US department of defence has already dispatched a fresh arsenal of additional weaponry to the Middle East, with more warships, air defences, fighter jets, and submarines en route to the region with many left wondering if it is a show of military might or an omen of impending war. As per CNN, The White House has already been briefed that the US military is readying itself to launch an attack by the weekend if need be. Despite an uptick in US military assets in the Middle East in recent days, one source said that Trump has privately argued both for and against military action and polled advisers, military experts, and allies on what the best course of action is.

Trump is said to be mulling over the prospect of strikes on Iran, a world-changing call that could have dire implications around the globe. Sources close to the leader say he’s locked in deep thought, with one insider admitting: “He is spending a lot of time thinking about this.” At least he is taking things seriously, then. The 47th President is reportedly playing devil’s advocate with his inner circle, taking “opposing sides” in White House debates as he weighs up a devastating military campaign. A formal date of attack, however, remains unclear. It is also not clear when the US leader will make the final call on military action against Tehran. Earlier on Wednesday, it was revealed the president was teetering on the edge of greenlighting a “massive, weeks-long” military campaign against Iran. The move would likely be seen as all out war. Either way, the American military has already made a move that shows it is “ready for war”, a source has told The Mirror. The US military ramped up its war-threat posture against Iran with the addition of six more E-3 spy planes sent to the Middle East. That, and the presence of a major cruise missile-firing submarine in the region signals America is now armed and ready for conflict.

Diplomatic negotiations led by Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and envoy Steve Witkoff are understood to have made little progress, after Tehran refused to meet Trump’s demand to halt all nuclear developments on Tuesday, US Vice President JD Vance said. Sources told Axios the campaign would have a broader regime-change objective against the Ayatollah. The US and Israel would also launch the operation in a military joint effort. One military analyst told the Daily Mirror : “There is very little give in these negotiations and Israel has told the US its demands on Iran’s nuclear and ballistic weapons. Trump knows and has already acknowledged that Israel may decide to launch strikes against Iran’s ballistic missiles and US forces in the region are likely to become involved. “Strikes are now looking very likely against Iran, either by the US along with Israel, or by Israel and then followed by the US.” Trump said days ago regime change in Iran is “the best thing that could happen”, without specifying what would replace the Ayatollah Khamenei rule. He added: “For 47 years, they’ve been talking and talking and talking. In the meantime, we’ve lost a lot of lives.” Trump declined to specify who he wanted to lead Iran, but noted “there are people” who could take over. There have also been consistent claims inside Iran that opposition executions have gone ahead, despite US President Donald Trump’s threats against the regime. Officially aid agencies fear more than 7,000 opposition protesters were killed in recent uprising attempts, whilst a further 17,000 deaths are being investigated. There are fears some 30,000 may have been killed, whilst the regime says the death toll is around 3,000.
