Princess Eugenie and Beatrice ‘maintain disaster talks’ after Andrew Windsor’s arrest
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are said to be “utterly horrified” and “very distressed” after their father Prince Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office
Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice are reportedly preparing to hold “crisis talks” following their father Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest on Thursday. Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, are said to be “utterly horrified” and “very distressed” after their father’s arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Andrew’s daughters, whom he shares with former wife Sarah Ferguson, are said to be desperately attempting to work out their next moves, with Eugenie photographed on a skiing break with her husband and two sons just hours before Andrew’s arrest.
A source recently revealed to the Daily Mail that King Charles, who issued a statement just hours after his brother’s arrest, is feeling intensely protective towards his two nieces.
Royal expert Ingrid Seward has told the Daily Mail that Beatrice and Eugenie will probably be “doubting everything” regarding their father over the years.
She told the publication: “All the doubts will have come crashing in – those holidays they had as children, the funds their father put in their bank account, all the lovely things they enjoyed.”, reports the Express.
“Somewhere in their minds, they’ll be wondering where that money really came from. bSadly, they’re going to start doubting everything their father ever told them.”
Whilst it was reported that this was to the extent that Beatrice and Eugenie were no longer talking to Andrew, this is now not believed to be the case. A family friend revealed to HELLO!
“The sisters are not abandoning their father. They aren’t turning their backs on him. But everything is obviously very strained and hard.”
Meanwhile, the Prince and Princess of Wales will have the task of rebuilding the “integrity of the royal family” damaged by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, a PR expert has suggested.
William and Kate, as the future of the monarchy, will in years to come need to set out their vision for the institution, now in crisis following the Epstein scandal that simmered for years and finally resulted in Andrew’s arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Public relations and crisis consultant Mark Borkowski said the couple faced the question of “how do they establish the integrity of the royal family?”.
He added: “Really, what do William and Kate do? What do their generation do with the crown, with all its soft power, its affairs of state, it’s beginning to feel a little bit like a European monarchy.
“The pressure on William to communicate what the royal family is going to be over the next 50 years falls squarely on his shoulders.”
