Prince William’s ‘immense unhappiness’ in tribute over loss of life of Corporal Lucy Wilde

Prince William has shared his ‘immense sadness’ after the death of army medic Corporal Lucy Wilde, who was a TikTok star with thousands of followers documenting her military life

Prince William expressed his “immense sadness” following news of army medic Corporal Lucy Wilde’s death. The Prince of Wales posted a touching and sincere message on social media on Sunday morning (February 21).

It stated: “It was with immense sadness that I learned of Cpl Lucy Wilde’s death. I remember our meeting during her time with the Welsh Guards, where her warmth and compassion were unmistakable. She served with courage and distinction as a medic and sought always to help others. I send my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.”

The Prince of Wales, who has served as Colonel of the Welsh Guards regiment since 2022, concluded the personal tribute with: “Colonel William”.

Cpl Lucy Wilde of the Royal Army Medical Service was a British Army medic who gained fame on TikTok sharing her military life, and who, her family confirmed, passed away unexpectedly. She had amassed thousands of social media followers, regularly posting about her workouts in the barracks gym or offering health and fitness guidance, reports the Express.

Recognised throughout the army, she had previously met Prince William, who serves as Colonel of the Welsh Guards, where Cpl Wilde spent the majority of her service, The Daily Mail reported.

Cpl Wilde enlisted in the army eight years ago and served in military operations in Kenya, the Falklands and South Georgia, and ran the Rome Marathon in 2024.

She had been assigned to the Welsh Guards until Christmas when she transferred to her next posting with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Yorkshire Regiment.

The Ministry of Defence said the circumstances surrounding Wilde’s death were being investigated.

In a clip uploaded to TikTok last week, three days before she died, Cpl Wilde disclosed how the previous five months had been a “struggle” for her mentally and that she had been “in a rut”.

The final video she posted at the start of February was about how having a puppy exhausted her.

The young medic revealed that she was experiencing heartbreak following a split with her army colleague.

A video uploaded to her TikTok in November last year was accompanied with text that read: “In ur 20s u will fall in love with an older man in the army. It’s very important you get away from him xxx.

“Because I didn’t, now paying the price,” she wrote and finished by adding a broken heart emoji.
