Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s notorious taxi picture hung in Louvre by TikTok pranksters

TikTok pranksters have hung the infamous photo of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in a taxi following his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office in the world-famous Louvre gallery in Paris

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has made his entrance into the world-renowned Louvre courtesy of a now notorious photograph showing him in a taxi, after his arrest last week.

The ex-Prince was apprehended on his 66th birthday on allegations of misconduct in public office, and freed pending investigation 11 hours after officers descended on his temporary residence in Sandringham. He was glimpsed momentarily on the day of his arrest as he climbed into a taxi from the police station – a moment captured by a photographer.

An activist group has now stuck that photograph on a wall in the Parisian gallery, displaying the snap for potentially tens of thousands of visitors to witness. The reported TikTok pranksters were filmed sticking up a small version of the photo on a wall in the building, depicting the royal slouched in his vehicle for potentially thousands of onlookers to observe.

While the image has already reached millions of viewers, an estimated 30,000 people visit the Louvre daily.

They positioned the photograph beside a mock artwork label branding the guerrilla exhibition “He’s Sweating Now” in a cheeky nod to the ex-Prince’s notorious claim that he doesn’t sweat. The stunt will probably only intensify the shame experienced by the Royal Family after Andrew’s detention last week, which came following persistent disclosures about his links with paedophile convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, reports the Mirror.

Papers released by the US Department of Justice revealed he and his accomplices had maintained contact and worked intimately with the disgraced financier.

One set of documents captured Epstein’s enlisting of Andrew – then a UK trade envoy – during a bid to meet with Syrian dictator Colonel Gadaffi, who, he claimed had been told, could require his financial assistance.

In additional papers, he was photographed crouching over an unidentified woman on the ground at an undisclosed venue and staring up at the camera. Mountbatten-Windsor’s appearance in the papers do not suggest wrongdoing of any nature, but they have created lasting consequences for the former Duke of York.

The detention on suspicion of misconduct in public office, a charge that alleges “serious wilful abuse or neglect” of powers whilst occupying a public office position, was quickly denounced by King Charles III – who had previously removed his brother’s titles. He penned in a statement backed by the Prince and Princess of Wales: “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office.

“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.

“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.

“As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all. Charles R.”
