Hollywood’s prime chef roasts Brooklyn Beckham’s abilities and blasts ‘he is no prepare dinner’
Wolfgang Puck has been dubbed the “gastro governor” but he’s stuck the knife into the social media star’s grub videos saying he has a lot to learn
Hollywood’s top chef has roasted Brooklyn Beckham’s cooking skills. Wolfgang Puck, dubbed the “gastro governor”, stuck the knife into the social media star’s grub videos.
Wolfgang, 76, who runs celebrity hot spots including Spago, said: “He is not a big chef. No, let’s not go that far. He is trying to be a chef. He is not a chef.”
The culinary star added: “A chef is somebody who runs a great kitchen, who makes great food. Online it’s different.”
Brooklyn, 26, has racked up 17m Instagram followers with his cooking clips. But Wolfgang admitted he is baffled at how youngsters like David Beckham’s son promote themselves as cooks too soon rather than learning on the job.
He said: “The young people today have a short attention span. And they want to be a chef in two years. They want to have their own restaurant in three years and most of all they want to be on television.
“They actually don’t care about the food they care more about being on TV, being on social media and doing all that stuff, instead of learning the trade learning how to cook, learning how to organise, learning the business, learning about wine.”
And when grilled on if Brooklyn could handle working as an apprentice for him, the top chef replied: “He could handle it. He just has to learn.
“You know, maybe he can teach me a little bit about football and I teach him how to cook.”
Wolfgang, who has hosted Victoria and David Beckham at his eateries, spoke at the Keep Memory Alive 30th anniversary Power of Love gala in Las Vegas.
The bash benefits Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and its mission to advance brain health care and research. It comes after Brooklyn shocked the world by disowning his parents last month following tensions with his wife Nicola Peltz.
