Beverly D’Angelo, 74, was a popular movie and TV star in the 1970s and 1980s.
The actress grew up in Ohio, then worked as a singer before starring on Broadway.
Next came Hollywood. Her biggest hits have been the National Lampoon’s Vacation films with Chevy Chase, where she played Ellen Griswold.
There were five in all: the 1983 original as well as 1985’s National Lampoon’s European Vacation, 1989’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, 1997’s Vegas Vacation and 2015’s Vacation.
And the pinup also had two children with her longtime boyfriend, Al Pacino.

Her biggest break came in 1983, starring alongside Chevy Chase in National Lampoon’s Vacation as Ellen Griswold.
She reprised this role in four Vacation sequels.
In the 1980s, she had acting gigs in the films Maid to Order (1987) and High Spirits (1988).
In 1998, she played Doris Vinyard, the mother of Edward Norton’s character, in the crime drama American History X.
Then came several TV movies like Slow Burn (1986), Hands of a Stranger (1987), Judgment Day: The John List Story (1993), Menendez: A Killing in Beverly Hills (1994) and Sweet Temptation (1996).
D’Angelo had a regular role in the 2000s as attorney Rebecca Balthus on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
She was in a relationship with actor Al Pacino from 1997 until 2003. The couple had twins through IVF, a son and a daughter, born January 25, 2001
She voiced Lurleen Lumpkin, a country singer, on The Simpsons.
From 2005 to 2011, D’Angelo appeared in the HBO series Entourage playing the role of agent Barbara ‘Babs’ Miller.
D’Angelo had a role in the film Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay as Sally in 2008.
She played the housemother in the 2008 film The House Bunny and also appeared in the 2009 Tony Kaye film Black Water Transit.
In 2014, D’Angelo worked with her old Vacation co-star Chevy Chase on Chev & Bev, about a retired couple, but it did not become a series.
In 2022, she played Gertrude in the Christmas action-comedy Violent Night, starring David Harbour of Stranger Things fame.

Later, she was in a relationship with Anton Furst, an Academy Award-winning production designer, who died by suicide in 1991.
