School secretary ‘caught by husband in mattress with pupil on Valentine’s Day’
School secretary Alicia Hughes, 31, was arrested and charged with child seduction after her husband allegedly found her with an 18-year-old student from her school on Valentine’s Day
A secondary school secretary is facing charges after allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with an underage student. Alicia Hughes, 31, who was employed at Randolph Eastern School Corporation in Union City, Indiana, was arrested on February 15 after police responded to reports of alleged assault, the Mirror US reports.
It is claimed that her husband attacked her during a confrontation after discovering her with an 18-year-old male – a student at the school where she was employed – and challenging them, the Union City Police Department said in a public statement. Hughes’ charges do not relate to this student.
Officers also discovered evidence that Hughes had engaged in sexual intercourse with a student who was 17-years-old at the time on at least five occasions, according to the police statement. She was charged with five counts of child seduction in relation to this student.

Video footage of Hughes’ police interview was released on Saturday, just days after her husband filed for divorce and emergency custody of their three children, according to LawandCrime. During the interview, she cried as she told police that her husband had caught her with the student.
Hughes confessed that “the physical thing” with the 18-year-old student had been ongoing for roughly a month. “This is the third time that I have been with him,” she revealed.
She subsequently clarified that the intimate relationship only commenced after the teenager reached 18 years of age.
She also acknowledged encountering the 17 year old lad at the discount store and transmitting images to him, but insisted she “never slept with him”. Hughes claimed her husband had “physically and mentally” abused her, though she acknowledged this didn’t excuse her behaviour with either of the students.
Hughes’ spouse hasn’t been publicly named, and the battery allegation is under investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department.
Hughes was taken to the Randolph County Jail, where she remains on a $25,000 cash-only bond. The Union City Police Department praised the Randolph Eastern School Corporation for its cooperation and transparency.
Given the active investigation, the school stated it wouldn’t discuss specific details regarding Hughes.
“We recognize that situations of this nature are deeply concerning for our families, staff, and the broader community,” Neal Adams, superintendent at Randolph Eastern School Corporation, said in a statement.
“Please know that we share those concerns and are taking this matter with the utmost seriousness, care, and urgency. Our focus remains on supporting our students and maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all students.”
