A dad is suspected of killing his wife and two children before shooting himself in a family murder suicide. Police discovered the grisly scenes after all four family members died from gunshot wounds.
Before their remains were found, neighbours noticed a foul smell coming from the family’s apartment. The incident was first reported to authorities by a concerned landlord who unsuccessfully tried to contact the family last Friday. Ittook place in the German municipality of Strullendorf in Bamberg.
Police officers from Bamberg-Land police station attended the scene, arriving at the Strullendorf home after 7pm. They were able to break down the locked doors to gain entrance to the family home. After entering, officers stumbled across the harrowing scene.

They found the bodies of a six-year-old girl and her older brother, 14, in the home alongside their mum, 49. The father’s body was also found in the apartment with the murder weapon nearby. The Bild reports it remains unclear how the horrific killing spree started.
Initial investigations revealed the dad, who was an experienced hunter, likely shot and killed his family before taking his own life with the weapon. He possessed a firearms licence and owned numerous firearms which were found in the family apartment.
Despite the investigations it is unclear if all the killings happened at the same time. Currently police do not suspect any outside interference in the killing spree.
Christian Raithel of the Upper Franconia Police Headquarters said: “The exact time is still being determined. The autopsy will take place on Tuesday. This should help narrow down the timeframe.”
The Bamberg Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Upper Franconia Police Headquarters spoke of the horror officers discovered in a statement. The force said: “On Friday evening, police officers found the bodies of a family of four in a house in Strullendorf.
