Preston boss claims Snoop Dogg at Swansea solely notable as a consequence of ‘odor of weed’ in tunnel
Swansea City welcomed rapper Snoop Dogg to the Swansea. com Stadium for their Championship clash against Preston North End, with the music icon’s presence seemingly leaving its mark
Preston North End boss Paul Heckingbottom claims that his team only realised Snoop Dogg was in attendance because Swansea City’s tunnel ‘smelled of weed’.
Tuesday’s Championship encounter suddenly grabbed worldwide headlines after music legend Snoop turned up at the Swansea. com Stadium. The American, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, has stakes in the Welsh outfit and his first visit pulled in a high attendance.
Snoop, 54, was introduced to supporters before kick-off and generated a buzzing atmosphere. However, Heckingbottom reckons that Snoop’s appearance didn’t influence the match which finished 1-1.

Preston had gone ahead in the first half, with Daniel Jebbison opening the scoring for the promotion hopefuls. Yet North End’s victory was stolen when super sub Liam Cullen salvaged a point for Swansea in the 95th minute. When questioned afterwards about whether his players faced an ‘intense’ atmosphere, Heckingbottom responded: “It wasn’t was it?
“It was quiet. We kept them quiet. That’s how we played. Our fans were the loudest. We only let them have their occasion at the very end by conceding. So that’s the frustrating thing.”
The Preston manager continued: “I can’t tell. It’s only different for people who are here every week, isn’t it? It’s not different for us. We don’t play at Swans every week, so it’s no different for us.

“We go away to Ipswich the other week, they were at it, their fans were at it, and that was noise all game. It was just a game for us and we kept, I felt, everyone quiet until the end.
“I think just the smell of weed in the tunnel is the only thing where we realised something was different.”
It marked Snoop’s first visit to the Swansea.com Stadium following his entry into their celebrity-packed ownership consortium last July. The 17-time Grammy nominee put money in alongside TV presenter Martha Stewart and AC Milan star Luka Modric, as they attempt to guide the Swans back to the Premier League.
Stepping onto the turf sporting a Swansea shirt and jacket, Snoop received a guard of honour from 20 youngsters who’ll represent Wales at the 2026 Street Child World Cup.
He then completed a circuit of the stadium, acknowledging fans and embracing club mascot Cyril the Swan.
