DAILY MAIL COMMENT: Labour, Lib Dems and the Greens – the hellish troika to carry Britain to its knees
It is only a very short time since the notion of the Green Party walking the corridors of power was unthinkable. Anyone even floating the idea risked being led away by the men in white coats.
Yet, in a deeply worrying development, it is no longer an outlandish prospect. According to an opinion poll published yesterday, the Greens have more support than rival parties among voters due to cast their ballots in tomorrow’s Gorton and Denton by-election.
Even more alarmingly, a separate poll by Find Out Now shows them in second place nationally on 18 per cent of the vote – behind Reform (25 per cent) but ahead of Labour (16 per cent).
It comes after a recent YouTube survey found that Zack Polanski – the party’s superficially plausible leader – enjoys huge popularity among younger voters, especially women.
What seemed impossible a few months ago may become the new reality. Between them, the Greens, Labour and the Lib Dems could enter government in a particularly hellish troika capable of bringing Britain to its knees.

Even hardened political observers would need a dose of the smelling salts after combing through the Greens’ policy papers.
As revealed in the Daily Mail today, they want to cut the military budget, cull the Army and get rid of the nuclear deterrent. And this, of course, at a time when the need to increase defence spending is greater than ever due to the growing spectre of aggression from hostile powers.
The party’s position on other issues is just as egregious. Its more bizarre ambitions include legalising prostitution and making pornography more easily available.
Another policy calls for a change in the law to allow the recreational use of heroin, crack cocaine and the date-rape drug GHB on the grounds that they ‘enhance human relationships’.
Yesterday’s Mail reported on crackpot plans to not only provide illegal migrants with a free house, but to pay them a wage as well – with no requirement on the recipients to actually do an honest day’s work.
The same policy paper would see immigration detention abolished and all arrivals to Britain allowed to avail of NHS services for free as soon as they land here.
For the avoidance of doubt, the days are long gone when the Greens devoted themselves to planting trees, recycling waste and doing their best to look after Mother Earth.
Yet while their puerile rhetoric might sound better suited to a students’ union common room of the 1970s, it would be a mistake to underestimate the threat posed by the current batch of apparatchiks.
We live an era where vast swathes of younger voters feel alienated by the main parties and are grasping for something they can believe in. Into that vacuum has stepped Mr Polanksi, a cynical opportunist devoid of principles or scruples.
He has already used his Jewish heritage as a smokescreen to spread virulently anti-Zionist sentiment. Meanwhile, his drugs policy – which includes building ‘direct partnerships’ between the UK and South American narcotics cartels – is shamelessly aimed at attracting the votes of gullible youngsters.
With his easy charm and well-rehearsed patter, the Green Party leader is a polished performer. But the Mr Nice Guy act fails to disguise the sinister, rotten and potentially dangerous agenda he is pushing.
