Donald Trump Has Peak Trump Reaction After Trying On Olympian’s Gold Medal

Donald Trump was at it again Tuesday when he hosted the U.S. men’s ice hockey team — fresh off winning gold at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics — in the Oval Office and joked about keeping one of the players’ medals.

“Yeah, I’ll put it on. Absolutely. I’m not giving it back,” the bling-obsessed president teased Matthew Tkachuk after the Florida Panthers forward offered Trump his medal to try on.

“Hey, that’s cool. I never thought I’d ever have this on me,” Trump added.

Video of the moment, shared online by Trump White House communications adviser Margo Martin, quickly went viral — amid continued controversy over degrading comments that Trump made about the U.S. women’s hockey team, which also won gold in Italy.

Trump has a history of making similar trophy- and medal-keeping quips.

He previously joked about being able to “say I won them athletically” after being gifted a set of official 1984 Olympic medals by Casey Wasserman, chair of the Los Angeles 2028 organizing committee who is under scrutiny for links to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
