Fly-tipping scumbags hunted after gigantic 100-ft lengthy garbage mountain dumped subsequent to A1

A giant mountain of stinking trash and building waste has been illegally dumped in Tinker Lane near Barnby Moor, Notts., with the cleanup expected to cost at least £20,000

Authorities are on the hunt for fly-tipping culprits who dumped a staggering 40 tonnes of rubbish just a stone’s throw from the bustling A1. Disturbing images expose the colossal 100ft-long heap of reeking trash and construction waste accumulated in Tinker Lane near Barnby Moor, Notts.

The 10ft high mound of waste – situated mere yards from the National Trust-managed Clumber Park – materialised in January.

The Environment Agency has initiated an investigation, whilst Nottinghamshire County Council estimates that the clean-up operation will set them back at least £20,000. Bassetlaw District Councillor Darrell Pulk reckons the garbage pile – comprising household rubbish and building materials – would fill a minimum of ten lorry loads.

Grim photos reveal the full extent of the unlawfully discarded waste, which completely obstructs the entire lane. Cllr Pulk, who heads up neighbourhoods, stated: “We estimate there’s been ten lorry loads dumped, it’s mainly building materials but there’s household waste in it.

“We don’t know who it is but with that scale of waste, we think it’s probably a criminal organisation who has set themselves up.

“It’s not someone in a transit van who has dumped some items randomly, this is a planned group.

“It’s an organised business to take people’s waste and illegally dump it. They’ll have false plates and people hide their identity and things. This particular venue is off the A1, they would’ve reversed up the drive in the dark and you wouldn’t see it.

“It started on the 19th of January. We went out to have a look, but the scale of the waste meant it was beyond our capacity.

“There wasn’t any evidence for who dumped it. The Environmental Agency hasn’t found any toxin materials so far, so it’s going to be cleared up.”

The county council has commissioned private company Veoila to tackle the clean-up operation, which is anticipated to span several days.

Cllr Pulk added: “It’s a proper professional job to remove it. It’s not just a mattress on the side of the road.

“It’s going to cost in excess of £20,000 to move it because it’s 5ft deep, 10ft wide and over 100ft long.

“The issue is if you get multiple waste deposited in an area at £20,000 a shot, it gets up to big money. “

An Environment Agency representative stated: “We are investigating the illegal deposits of waste on Tinker Lane near Blythe, and we share the community’s disgust at these cases of environmental vandalism.

“An estimated 40 tonnes of mixed building and general waste has been dumped on an adopted bridleway between the A1 and A634.”
