HMP Erlestoke jail tutor faces jail after admitting sexual relationship with inmate
Wiltshire prison tutor, Kelly Duffey has been warned she could face jail after admitting to having an intimate relationship with a serving prisoner at HMP Erlestoke

A prison tutor has been warned she may face jail afteradmitting to an intimate relationship with a current inmate. Kelly Duffey, 36, from Amesbury, Wiltshire, apleaded guilty at Winchester Crown Court to two counts of misconduct in a public office related to her relationship with Ashley Goodridge at HMP Erlestoke.
The court was informed that the relationship occurred between July and September 2024 and involved kissing and one “physical sexual encounter”.
Goodridge, 38, also confessed to an offence after sending a photograph using a mobile phone from the category C men’s prison. Recorder Gemma White cautioned Duffey that incarceration was a potential outcome when they return to court for sentencing on April 16.

Granting her unconditional bail, the judge stated: “Your plea having been entered today means that this case now falls to be sentenced. The court will be considering all sentencing options, including the likelihood of an immediate custodial sentence.”
At a previous hearing in February, Duffey denied having an “intimate relationship” with a prisoner at the all-male jail HMP Erlestoke in Wiltshire, where she worked as a tutor.
During that initial court appearance, Duffey pleaded not guilty to one count of entering into and engaging in an intimate relationship with an inmate. However, she confessed to failing to report an inappropriate relationship between a staff member and a prisoner.
