Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool future now clear with Reds icon ‘more and more doubtless’ to depart

Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool is becoming more clear with the Reds icon having less than 18 months left on his current deal at Anfield

Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool future is becoming more clear with the Reds icon now looking “increasingly likely” to leave Anfield in the summer.

Salah, 33, has under 18 months left on his deal at the Reds – after signing a bumper new contract less than a year ago. However, relationships at Liverpool have been strained this season, and he looked likely to leave in January at the start of December.

And according to BBC Sport, Salah is now likely to leave this summer with the MLS and Saudi Pro League his potential options. However, the report adds, Liverpool are desperate to keep him at the club.

Liverpool’s stance comes after Salah’s bombshell comments back in December when he was left on the bench for the third game on the bounce.

He claimed thay the club had “thrown me under the bus” and “someone doesn’t want me.”

Salah added: “I think it’s very clear that someone wants me to get all the blame. The club promised me in the summer for a lot of promises and nothing.”

Arne Slot was underfire for his treatment of the club’s second all-time top goalscorer, with Salah insisting the pair didn’t have a relationship anymore.

However, since Salah’s return from AFCON, they appear to have patched up their differences. And after Liverpool’s FA Cup win against Brighton, Slot was full of praise for Salah.

He said: “He sets his own standards and those are so, so high that the moment he doesn’t score for a few games, people are immediately surprised.

“That’s probably the biggest compliment he can get.” Slot had said earlier in February after the Brighton FA Cup win: “What I like the most is he is scoring goals [which you] almost expect.

“But he also helps the team a lot defensively and that is something very positive.”
