Man Utd chief turned away from assembly Julia Roberts after being blocked at personal floor
A Manchester United chief was turned away at Old Trafford from meeting Julia Roberts despite effectively being one of the main men in charge of the stadium
Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada was stopped from meeting Hollywood star Julia Roberts at Old Trafford despite being one of the main men in charge of the stadium.
Berrada was eager to meet Roberts when she was in attendance at Soccer Aid in June last year, but in an embarrassing twist, the United chief was unable to gain access and was refused entry to her suite.
The 58-year-old actress was being hosted at the charity match at a place she is no stranger to visiting after turning up at Old Trafford on a previous occasion to watch her beloved United play.

But despite effectively being one of the most influential figures in charge of the stadium, it’s reported by The Sun that Berrada was turned away because Soccer Aid operates independently from United.
This means that Berrada was attending as a private individual rather than in his official United role, which would have allowed him such access.
Roberts is no stranger at Old Trafford after first appearing at the Theatre of Dreams in November 2016 having watched United draw 1-1 with West Ham. She met the players and their families afterwards.

Again in 2023, Roberts met then-boss Erik ten Hag. Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Roberts revealed she has a deep love for the Red Devils.
“I’ve been to Old Trafford, I’m a true fan,” she said. “I have three children and when they were really little and started playing soccer and started watching it on TV.
“And I didn’t ever realise how exciting it was to watch it on television. We just got so into it and somehow Manchester United just became our team, the Moder family team. And we became sort of possessed.”
Speaking at a press conference at the time, Guardiola expressed his heartbreak at her choosing red not blue. “And she went to visit Man United. She didn’t come to see us,” the Spaniard said.
“That’s why even if I win the Champions League it will not compare for the fact that Julia came to Manchester and didn’t come to see us. Even if I win the Champions League it will not compare to this disappointment I had.”
