Manchester United climbed to third in the Premier League table after coming from behind in the second-half to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Old Trafford

Manchester United climbed to third in the Premier League table aftercoming from behind to win 2-1 over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Palace got off to a flying start and took the lead within four minutes when Maxence Lacroix shook off Leny Yoro and headed home from Brennan Johnson’s corner, beating Senne Lammens. United were lacklustre in the first half but were thrown a lifeline shortly after the interval when Lacroix was shown a red card for holding Matheus Cunha in the penalty box. Bruno Fernandes converted the resulting penalty.

Fernandes then turned provider, delivering an excellent cross for Benjamin Sesko to head past Dean Henderson. Here’s how the United players performed at Old Trafford.

Senne Lammens: Made a couple of solid saves from Ismaïla Sarr and looked comfortable with the ball at his feet, though he wasn’t overly tested. 7

Diogo Dalot: Struggled in the first half, particularly defensively, and was guilty of losing possession too frequently, but improved after the break. 6

Leny Yoro: Lost Lacroix for the goal and surrendered possession too easily. Jorgen Strand Larsen seemed confident against him, marking another learning experience for the defender. 5

Harry Maguire: The standout performer in defence. Demonstrated his experience when facing Strand Larsen and tried to support Yoro. 7

Luke Shaw: Appeared devastated to suffer his first injury of the campaign on his 28th consecutive Premier League appearance. Endured a difficult evening before that setback as Palace capitalised on gaps behind him. 5

Casemiro: Lacked options during the opening period and found himself under pressure when Palace pressed aggressively. Ought to have found the net but improved as the intensity around him subsided. 6 .

Kobbie Mainoo: Encountered difficulties against Adam Wharton in the first 45 minutes but significantly improved after the interval, displaying his determination on several occasions defensively. 7

Bryan Mbeumo: Enjoyed promising spells when United faltered early on but failed to reach his peak for large portions of the encounter. 6

Bruno Fernandes: Began tentatively but started assuming greater responsibility towards the close of the opening half. Composed from the spot and provided an exceptional delivery for Sesko. 8

Matheus Cunha: Clever in earning the penalty from Lacroix following a lacklustre first-half display. Operating too centrally at times and appears uncomfortable on the left flank. 7

Benjamin Sesko: Thunderous header to give United the advantage. Claimed his fair share of aerial duels from deliveries and appears a genuine menace in the box currently. 8

Substitutes:

Noussair Mazraoui: Crucial defensive intervention in the opening period and dependable in his most extended outing for some time. 7

Amad: Energetic after entering the fray and seemed eager to make his mark. 7

Ayden Heaven: Insufficient time to leave his mark. Booked. 5
