Beatrice and Eugenie ‘utterly blindsided’ as they’re ‘banned’ from main occasion
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are said to have been told they cannot go to Royal Ascot this year amid the fallout around their father Prince Andrew and mother Sarah Ferguson’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have been “blindsided” by a decision to bar Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s daughters from attending Royal Ascot this year, insiders have claimed.
The sisters are said to have been informed they cannot join the Royal Family at the races this year due to the controversy surrounding their parents, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and their association with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Both Andrew and Fergie have consistently denied any wrongdoing.
Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, have reportedly been left “completely blindsided” by the apparent decision to exclude them from the Royal Box at the renowned races in June. Andrew was arrested last month on suspicion of misconduct in public office, on his 66th birthday, and released under investigation.
Despite Andrew and Sarah having their royal titles removed by King Charles last year, the sisters retained their princess titles amid the fallout. However, the Queen’s granddaughters are allegedly beginning to be gradually excluded from public-facing royal events and occasions, reports the Mirror.
A source, according to the Daily Mail, claimed: “I’ve spoken to my friend who works at Ascot and they said the girls have been told they can’t be there this year. Beatrice has taken it the hardest. She’s been completely blindsided by all of this.”
Another source reportedly claimed “Ascot would be out of the question because the royals have been told they can’t have pictures with the girls for the rest of the year.”
The siblings have maintained a discreet public presence following their father’s detention on February 19 at his residence on the private Sandringham Estate.
Eugenie was glimpsed for the first time since her dad’s arrest this week alongside her husband Jack Brooksbank. The late-Queen’s granddaughter was observed dressed casually whilst purchasing coffee in London’s upmarket Notting Hill.
It’s understood she was enjoying a Swiss skiing break in Gstaad with her husband and two youngsters when her father was apprehended. She appears to have suspended all promotional activity for her charity – The Anti-Slavery Collective – following the Epstein Files revelations, with no fresh content appearing on its social media platforms.
Princess Beatrice eventually emerged publicly several days afterwards. The 35 year old was spotted strolling through London accompanied by her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and several companions.
The princess donned a lengthy blue overcoat with a coordinating scarf whilst clutching her coffee in a petite blue cup.
