Woman marries two older males at identical time in ceremony after they every pay £24,000
Two lifelong friends from Vienna, aged 67 and 56, married their 37-year-old Thai partner in a vibrant, dowry-rich wedding, forming a polyamorous ‘throuple’ that defies the law
Lifelong friends Roman, 67, and Macky, 56, both from Vienna, stunned villagers as they tied the knot with Dujduan Ketsaro, 37, in a lively wedding in rural Buriram province. The “first-of-its-kind” ceremony on February 28 saw the pair fawning over their much younger bride as they vowed to live together as a “throuple”, despite Thai law only recognising monogamous couples.
Footage shows locals congratulating the overjoyed Thai woman, dressed in traditional Thai wedding attire with banknotes tied to her wrists, after she received one million baht (approximately £24,000) dowries from each man in addition to gold jewellery.
Her grooms showered her with kisses, with Roman suggestively flicking his tongue as cameras captured the stomach-churning display of affection.
Mother-of-three Dujduan, a former singer, said she previously separated from her Thai husband over financial problems, before working in Thai “Sin City” Pattaya – a depraved resort town frequented by elderly sex tourists. She said: “It was exhausting, but I kept going until I met Roman, who was visiting Pattaya back then.
“We lived together for five years and he has now retired from the police in Austria. Later, his friend Macky came to Thailand, and he also ended up falling in love with me.
“Both of my husbands are from Vienna. We’ve never fought over our three-person relationship.
“Any arguments we have are just about small things, like other couples have.” Roman said he was aware of Macky’s feelings and, unwilling to destroy their lifelong friendship for a woman, decided to share her in a bizarre polyamorous relationship instead.
The trio continued the unusual setup for a year before finally holding a wedding upon receiving blessings from Dujduan’s family. Dujduan’s mother, Guang, 61, said she had seen her daughter’s struggles and was happy she finally found supportive – and financially secure – partners.
She added: “Both husbands have taken good care of her and the family. If some people don’t accept it, that’s their opinion.
“What matters is that my daughter is happy and able to raise her children and grandchildren. That’s enough for me.
“The dowry isn’t important. All I want is for them to live together with love and understanding.
“That’s all I ask.” Thienew Luangdechanurak, mayor of Salaengthon Subdistrict Municipality, said he had attended many weddings but had seen a woman marry two men at the same time.
He said: “This might be the first time such a wedding was held in the province. I would like to congratulate the bridegrooms and the bride.
“May their love last for a long time and become a legend.” Polygamy was previously recognised under Thailand’s civil law before the practice was abolished in 1935.
Modern Thai law now recognises only one spouse at a time, though informal multi-partner arrangements still exist.
